Mahājanaka Painting A Literary Work of Royal Commemoration of Thailand
Literary Painting, 58 Floor Siam Societies
Inside the Siam Societies room, there is a space for resting, conversing, and enjoying the view of Bangkok, subtly adorned with wall
paintings based on the royal narrative “Mahājanaka” written by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

These paintings incorporate teachings and philosophies of life that offer valuable insights for Thai people. Visitors can come and learn
about the nation's cultural heritage. The paintings were created by skilled Thai artists who inherited the master craftsmanship of traditional
handicrafts, using oil paints to depict significant scenes from the story in a single composition.

The important moral lessons from the narrative are as follows:

1) The Journey to Suvarnabhumi to Claim His Father’s Kingdom
This symbolizes having a clear goal in life, staying determined, and never giving up, even when faced with great challenges and opposition
from others, such as a mother who fears for her child’s safety despite the promise of a great inheritance.

2) The Merchant Ship Sinking on Its Journey to Suvarnabhumi
This represents the importance of mindfulness and self-reliance when facing danger. In times of crisis, one must remain calm and strong,
pushing through difficulties without seeking sympathy or expecting help from others.

3) Mahājanaka Swimming in the Ocean for Seven Days
This signifies the pursuit of perseverance and spiritual merit—never giving up, even when the end seems distant and uncertain. One must
continue wholeheartedly, even in the face of death.

4) Mahājanaka Revives a Mango Tree Destroyed by the Villagers Nine Times
This illustrates using wisdom to solve problems and being a leader who looks forward and restores what has been lost. Instead of blaming
past mistakes, one must focus on reviving and nurturing growth for the benefit of the community.

5) Establishment of the Pu Thalay Mahavichalai Educational Institute
This signifies having integrity, being truthful, sincere, and committed to promises made, like Mahājanaka’s vow to the celestial being,
Manimekhala, to build an institute for the betterment of people.

Through these paintings, the public is invited to reflect on the values of life through the story of Mahājanaka and the Ten Birth Tales (Dasa Jātaka), offering them different perspectives to learn from.
